Don't let the fact that they are vegetable oils fool you. This is not the jug of vegetable oil in your mother's cupboard. Contrary to popular belief, these oils are very good for all skin types, contain vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants and won't clog pores.
Carrier oils can be light or heavy and contain a myriad of nutrients. They also contain specific moisturizing and conditioning qualities based on your skin type. In body butter formulations, carrier oils break down the heaviness of butters and allow for better spread ability on the skin. Used on their own, they make great deep conditioners and moisturizers for hair.
Examples of carrier oils include grape seed, jojoba, coconut, avocado, castor, rice bran, hemp seed, sunflower, olive and safflower.
