The benefit of a homemade facial cleanser is that you control what's in it. With so many harmful ingredients being put in skin products these days, it's good to know that when you diy, you have ultimate say over what goes in and what doesn't. With a homemade facial cleanser, you put in ingredients that are not only good for you, but that are also beneficial to your skin. Different carrier oils such as grapeseed or jojoba and essential oils like tea tree can be added to increase the benefit of your cleanser.

The suggestions below add a pinch of this and a dash of that. Experiment to create your own, personalized cleanser.

Below are several diy recipes and links to get you started.

Grapefruit cleanser (combination or oily skin)

-half a pink grapefruit (skin is optional - more skin included will provide greater scrubbing)
-a teaspoon of grapeseed oil
-a slice of lemon (optional)
-a slice of orange (optional)

Blend all the above ingredients together until smooth. Put in a jar. Will last about 1 week in the fridge.

Avocado Cleanser (for dry skin)
-crush half an avocado in a bowl and use on face. Leave on your face for 5 minutes if you have really dry skin.

Milk / Yogurt Cleanser (normal / dry skin)
-work milk or plain yogurt into the skin and rinse off.

Honey (normal / sensitive skin)
-massage natural, raw honey into the skin and wash off with lukewarm water
