Myra Aso Marula Line Product Review

Every day we search for ways to enhance skin that has lost it’s youthful suppleness and glow. There is no doubt that your skin can give away life’s little signs of wear and tear.  When it comes to beauty and skin care, we’re always on the search for the perfect combination of products that not only works for our skin type, but also helps to improve our skin’s health.

Learning about natural skin care is important for maintaining and achieving healthy looking skin.  Skin is an organ that provides a healthy barrier against harsh environmental exposure.  Our skin requires nutrients just as the rest of our body and organs do.  Without proper care, our skin can show signs of aging, wrinkling, decreased elasticity, discolouration, age spots and other skin conditions such as acne.

Natural organic skin care is the fastest growing area of the beauty industry. Many people are becoming more aware of the dangers of long term use of many commercial skin care products.  Many products on the market are mostly chemical based.  In fact, the average women will put over a 100 chemicals on her skin or body every day. Many skin care products contain known or suspected carcinogens, neurotoxins and hormone disruptors.

Natural organic skin care is not only a much healthier choice, but it will also help conserve, heal, and enhance your skin’s natural beauty.

My hope is to provide some insight on different natural skin care products, their ingredients, and what benefits they may have.

I recently had the opportunity to try out Myra Aso’s Marula line.  This company uses organic marula oil as a base to their skin and hair care products.  These products aim to help hydrate, protect, and enrich skin and hair by using a natural blend of formulations.

Marula oil, which is growing in popularity, is extracted from the seeds of the sweet African marula fruit.  It is naturally loaded with omega fatty acids and antioxidants that help hydrate and prevent the skin from aging.  It does this by reducing free radical damage to skin.  This stable oil makes an excellent hydrating base that softens skin and slows down the damage to collagen.  Due to these properties, over time it can increase elasticity of the skin, reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration.  It also helps to regulate the moisture levels of skin and is therefore suitable for all skin types.

Myra aso’s pure marula oil is great for use on all skin types but is amazing on dry or flaking skin.  I used it to help sooth my cracked cuticles, dry skin on my feet and hands.  I also found it very useful around peeling areas of the face.  And because it’s natural, I also observed how   effective it was at soothing any superficial irritation, or itchiness.  Just a few drops are enough to intensely hydrate and protect affected areas.

The Jojoba facial serum is a combination of natural ingredients mixed in the base of marula oil.  Jojoba, rice bran oil, and coconut oil are all hydrating.   Jojoba is found to be the most structurally similar oil to that of human sebum (natural oils in our skin).  Because of this, jojoba is non-toxic, non-allergenic, and non- comedogenic.  It also contains Vitamin E, a natural antioxidant, and is also anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal, which means it can be used on acne prone skin without concern.  The coconut oil is in the fractionated, more stable form which adds a hydrating effect.  Note that some people might be sensitive to the fractionated coconut oil as it is not hypoallergenic.  Test this product on a small area of skin before applying it to the face.  A few drops of this serum goes a long way.  As I have combination skin, I needed very little product to hydrate my face.  It works well under moisturizer, and provides a very smooth canvas under makeup.

Since marula and jojoba oil have anti-aging properties, it’s great to use overnight to help your skin repair… so sleep off those fine lines and wrinkles!

The Marula Coconut Hair and Scalp oil is great at protecting your hair`s natural radiance.  Containing a blend of oils such as argan oil, coconut oil, and some essential oils such as peppermint and sweet orange, this product smells warm and spicy.  Argan oil, being rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids, is also anti-inflammatory and can help sooth scalp irritation for those who suffer from dandruff.  It`s also great for use on the ends of the hair to help smooth out split ends and tame any unwanted frizziness.  If you have finer hair, a little goes a long way.  You only need a few drops smoothed into the ends of your hair.  Or use it as a hydrating, repair treatment.  Shampoo off after leaving it in for around 30 minutes.

This product is also superb for dry, damaged, or over processed hair.  Use it along the entire hair strands to help repair and protect against dryness.

The Argan Body Cream comes in scented or unscented and is a thick body butter that is rich in moisturizers suitable for any skin type.  Using a combination of shea butter, argan oil, and marula oil, these moisturizers not only aim to deeply hydrate dry skin, but are also loaded with antioxidants to help promote cell renewal.  Shea butter is also known to be loaded with fatty acids which help promote skin elasticity and the retention of moisture.  These creams are great in that they absorb quickly and don`t leave a greasy film on the skin. Thick and buttery in consistency this mix of natural moisturizers and oils soothe even the driest of skin, improving overall skin radiance.

The best way to understand the potential of these products is to give them a try.   Since I am generally sensitive to strong fragrances and have sensitive skin, this line was great for me.  As you know this winter was very harsh and dry, and these products helped my skin survive.  I noticed smoother, less irritated skin, and also increased radiance and hydration.
Myra Aso is great for all skin types, but for those with aging or dry skin, this line is definitely for you.  And since these are all natural, you can rest assured that you`re doing great things for your skin.
